Yes! Crypto Should Be a Brick in Your Financial Foundation!

I promised you something. I told you that if you became a paid subscriber, you'd get to see my actual crypto portfolio. No hiding, no games. So here it is. But before I show you what I own, I want to tell you how I got here, because it wasn't a straight line.

🔥 I got burned. Bad.

Back in 2022, the crypto world went through a meltdown, the same mess that ended with the FTX scandal. I was right in the middle of it.

I had a basket of different coins sitting in Voyager. Over at BlockFi, I had 3 full coins of Ethereum and a quarter of a Bitcoin. Then both companies went under. 😞

I lost thousands of dollars. I did eventually get some of my money back, but not all of it. That one hurt.

So why would I go back? Because I still believe in the technology and what it may bring to the future. The companies I trusted failed. The technology didn't. That's an important difference.

🛡️ What I do differently now

This time, I only use Robinhood and Coinbase. Why? Both are publicly traded US companies. They have shareholders behind them, they file public reports, and they answer to regulators and investors.

Now, nothing is guaranteed. A public company can still have problems, and crypto isn't covered by FDIC insurance like your bank account. But I feel a lot safer with companies that have to open their books to the public than I did with the ones that let me down.

🌱 Why I think it's still early

Right now, the entire crypto market is worth somewhere around $2 to $3 trillion. Sounds huge, right? Here's some perspective: Apple by itself is worth about $5 trillion. One company is worth more than the whole asset class.

That tells me crypto is still young.

At one point, the whole crypto market wasn't even worth a billion dollars. Today it's over $2 trillion. Now imagine it reaching $5 trillion, or $10 trillion, in the years ahead. Is that guaranteed? Absolutely not. But is it possible? I think VERY possible.
